Does the student need a permit before starting?
Yes. A valid Arizona instruction permit is required at every behind-the-wheel session, and the student must bring it each time. If a student arrives without it, the session can't run and the reschedule fee applies.
Do I need my own car?
No, the student will be driving our automatic vehicle that has a passenger side brake pedal.
I'm over 18, do I need a permit?
It is required by law to drive with a trainer.
What is the MVD road test waiver?
The 10-hour Beginner course includes the Motor Vehicle road test with us. If the student passes, they receive a waiver for the MVD road test. Restrictions apply — call (520) 748-2102 and we'll walk you through it.
What's the insurance certificate?
Every program includes a certificate, mailed within two weeks of completion, that may entitle you to a discount on your insurance premiums. Check with your provider to see if you qualify.
Where do lessons start?
All sessions start and end at our office: 4626 E. Ft. Lowell Rd., Suite F — behind Vitality Bowl, near Ft. Lowell & Swan.
Does Academy pick up the student?
All of the driving sessions are from 4626 E. Ft. Lowell, Ste. F, Tucson, AZ 85712.
When are sessions available?
Seven days a week, scheduled around the student's availability. The office answers phones Mon–Fri, 9 AM–5 PM.
How long does the program take?
The length of time to complete the course can take about 4-6 weeks, depending on the student's availability. Pick times on several different days — the more you give us, the sooner we can book you.
What should the student wear?
Closed shoes that stay on the foot. No flip-flops; a sandal must wrap around the foot.
What if we need to reschedule?
With more than a week's notice, a $60 fee per changed session applies; with less than a week, a no-show, or a forgotten permit, it's $95. For real emergencies, you can request a fee waiver in writing, signed by a parent or guardian.
Are the cars safe?
Yes — automatic vehicles with an instructor brake and mirror, clear student-driver signage, and regular servicing. If a mechanical issue ever affects your session, we'll notify you as soon as possible and reschedule at no charge.
How do I pay?
No payment is collected when you request sessions. Once your times are confirmed, you'll receive a secure online payment link. Families pay the school directly; your times are held until the school confirms your payment. We never ask for card numbers by email or on paper forms. You can also arrange payment by phone.
Do you teach adults?
Yes — first-time adult drivers and returning drivers are welcome. The same one-on-one instruction, scheduled around your life.
